In vivo visualization of thalamic MA was achieved with both [11C]PK11195-PET and T2*wi–MRI, with both methods supplying complementary information about this process. Therapeutic approaches that terminate MA may be beneficial both in post-stroke conditions as well as in neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's.Disclosure: Dr. Schroeter has received personal compensation for activities with Astellas Pharma, Bayer Healthcare, Biogen Idec, Merck Serono, Janssen Cilag, Talecris Biotherapeutics,a nd Teva as a speaker.
