Cortical hyper-excitability was also noted in the high and moderate risk groups compared to controls (p< 0.05, effect sizes ranging from 0.2-0.5).Conclusions: Chronic alcohol consumption is associated with alterations within the intracortical excitatory and inhibitory systems.
