Publishing Neurology® 48 times a year is our main mission, but we also seek new ways to make the journal and its content indispensable to our readers and the membership of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). This editorial is a status report on recent accomplishments, but we also invite you to peek over our shoulders into the crystal ball, to glimpse what's in store.

PROGRESS REPORT

Editorial activity.

The journal is thriving, having received 4,107 original manuscripts in 2009; we remain at this pace in the first half of 2010. About 65% of our submissions are from non–United States countries, the top 3 submitting countries being Italy, Japan, and Germany. First decisions on manuscripts are made within 30 days and peer reviews are received an average of 8 days after assignment. We have kept time from acceptance to publication at 10–12 weeks.

Redesigned neurology.org Web site.

Since our last editorial was written, we launched an updated Web site for Neurology with new features: an updated look; enhanced navigation format; increased search capability; highlighted articles on the home page; detailed podcast descriptions; RSS feeds of current issues and podcasts; mobile device download link; AAN Web page links; links to Neurology Now®, Neurology Today®, and Continuum®; Resident & Fellow subsite; and social media links including Facebook and Twitter, so that subscribers to these media can receive journal announcements.
